Why do NBA players get there ankles taped up before a game?

What is the purpose?

They get their ankles taped up so that if they step wrong or step on someone else's foot the chances of them spraining an ankle is lower than what it would be if they didn't.

So they dont roll their ankles or if they already have or have bad ankles then they tape them for extra strength. By doing this they are less likely to re-roll them.
To try and avoid braking their ankles.
Sa that they don't (re) injure their ankles. It's important to be healthy when playing at such a level
ankle injuries are very common in basketball and they tape them to prevent them for rolling them
easy, to minimise if not prevent ankle injuries. if you try harder, you'll notice that they have other parts of their bodies taped up.
So they don't break their ankles.
so when Dirk Nowitzki crosses them over they don't break their ankles!
so they don't re-injure their ankles...
Wrapping their ankles provides extra support for their very expensive ankles. If a player misses one or two games it can cost a team millions. It is a very necesarry pracaution to help protect the player and the team.
