It's hard to name the absolute best singular performance, but if I had to I'd pick one it would be Magic Johnson's 42 point, 15 rebound, 7 assist game as a rookie in the deciding game of the NBA Finals. Lebron's performance is right up there with that one. Who else can you remember scoring that many consecutive points (25) in a deciding game, in such crucial situations, against a solid veteran team in the conference finals?
Other performances worth mentioning is Elgin Baylors 61 point game in the Finals (but they lost that game and the NBA was still young in the 60's) and Michael Jordan's 35 point, 6 three pointer half. Isiah Thomas and Reggie Miller both scored 25 in a single quarter in the playoffs. Those are the only ones I can think of, but Lebron's performance has put him in the company of legends.

More like Detroit pulled off one of the biggest defensive choke jobs in playoff history. Letting one guy score his teams last 25 points, some of them even by just going to the basket untouched is kinda sad especially for a top defensive team.

I bought tickets to go see Spurs V.S Suns on April 9th. This is the first time I go to an NBA game and I'm really excited! What really sucks is that I got one of the furthest seating areas in the stadium. It is still between both baskets but, what I really want know is how the view is. Can I get up and get close without anybody telling me to go back to my seat? I just want to get close for a few seconds.

You will still get a good view. I've been to a Suns game, and our seats were up in the nosebleed section, and I still liked the view. You can probably get a seat closer to the court in the upperdeck, but don't expect to be able to go down to a lower level.

Usually, towards the end of the game, if it's not close, people come down to the lower level for a closer look after the seats have been vacated.
It might be tough to get close during the game. If you get there real early (during warm ups) or stay after the game you can probably get close, but during the game you don't really have any reason to be down there when your seat is in an upper level. If I pay $100 for a front row seat I don't really want you blocking my view ya know?

I can see where you're coming from on that one... But I, for one, like watching series matchups. In the NFL, teams are always getting blown out in the playoffs. In the NBA, if a few games are lost, teams have a chance to redeem themselves. But then again it kind of ruins the competitiveness of the event.

unless you're a player, getting a coaching spot in a team has more to do with who you know. i still think some of the best coaches are in the NBA. another thing to point out is that international coaches are used to the idea that they are the boss. those coaches are dictators in their locker rooms. it is not so simple in the NBA. the players will only be coached if they allow the coach to, well, coach.

Well the atlanta game didn't surprise me that much i think they'll make it into the playoffs this year with Joe Johnson , Josh Smith and Al Horford staying healthy.

In the NBA, if a few games are lost, teams have a chance to redeem themselves. But then again it kind of ruins the competitiveness of the event.

I put the Lost Planet game in my PC to see what it would do. It brought up a movie that was 1 frame that said to put it in an Xbox360 console in a bunch of languages.
I closed the movie player and in Windows Explorer the disc in the dvd drive H:\ was named "NBA FURIOUS FINISHES". What does that mean? A quick Google yeilded virtually no results except a DVD on Amzon.com which contained exceptional NBA game highlights. Anybody know what's up with that? Makes me want to put my other 360 games in my pc and see if their names are diffrerent than the game's name. Maybe during production, the naming schema went wrong. Or maybe not....

Well the atlanta game didn't surprise me that much i think they'll make it into the playoffs this year with Joe Johnson , Josh Smith and Al Horford staying healthy.

Personally I like 2K8 more than NBA live 08. I was an NBA Live fan for many years but this year I got both and the same time and played them back to back for a week. Using the right thumbstick for shooting seemed odd to me at first, I was so used to using buttons. But after a few games on 2K8 when I switched to NBA Live it was like night and day. Using the right stick for shooting in the game makes it feel more real, like you are trying to make a shot, not just mash a button. It is not 100% perfect. Sometimes your players do funky things when they catch a pass, like take an extra step or two, causing you to go out of bounds or get back court violations. But other than that, I love this game.
But it should be noted that if you are competitive it may not be worth the switch from NBA Live to the 2K series. It took me weeks to get my skills on the 2K level up to what they were on the Live series since I was playing that so much before. I will give EA another shot next year, but this year I really liked the 2K series better.

2k series is now much better than arcady Live series. However, 2k8 is not significantly improved over 2k7 for last gen systems, so if you want the updated roster, get 2k8.
I have a PS3. If you get NBA Live 08 you will not be dissapointed. The gameplay is better and i prefer the controls system. you also have all star weekend. That said it really pissed me off that the ratings were stuffed up. Alando Tucker was rated higher than Steve Nash!!!!!!!!!

Here's the thing about officiating in the NBA, it's extremely inconsistent. Officials will call fouls in the fourth quarter that they haven't called the entire game, or call fouls for something in the first and then never call it again, it's all a matter of momentum, if they feel one team has the momentum they'll let fouls go, and if you don't have momentum they'll call you for more...BUT THEY ALWAYS MAKE IT UP! It's called the "make up call" and if you shut your mouth and go down and play the game, the officials will make it up to you. The real problem in this series is that the officials are afraid to make calls on the Spurs, mainly because one of them got run for the entire postseason for ejecting Tim Duncan who was sitting on the bench making an *** of himself and showing up the officials, which is what David Stern supposedly wanted to avoid. What do you do when the NBA has basically told you that they want a team to win, let's not forget the NBA allowing Bruce Bowen to kick Stoudemire's leg and knee Steve Nash in the groin. The NBA is who's to blame here, not the officials, mainly because they're as terrible now as they've been all season long so why complain now?

Im pretty sure Okur and Kirilenko were non-existent in that game. So exactly how should they have "clearly" won that game? Did they have a big lead before the "bad" calls and technicals? There were lame and questionable calls on both sides.
Had the calls gone different the entire game would have worked out differently. For all you know - some small change could have created a sequence of events leading to spurs winning by 25 points.
The bottom line is (regarding this series) if the Jazz win it will be a ridiculous travestry and it would mean the spurs blew it.

I own a PS3 and I'm a Sony lover and I have never said this, but if all you play is sports games then get a crappy Xbox 360. The Playstation 3 has way better games to offer than just sports games and if that's all you play then don't get a PS3 because you will never get the most out of a PS3 if all you play is sports games.

I am discusted when I read the blogs on yahoo. I read that Dirk is a choke artist and Kobe Bryant is a horrible player. Then I ready that Steve Nash never chokes even though he has never made it to the finals and that Shaq is still the most dominant player in the NBA. Why is it so damn hard to say that I do not like Dirk, but he is a great player. Why cant anyone say how good of a player Kobe is but still not like them. You are confusing two seperate issues. You single out NBA players and then you turn around and associate them with their teams. You said Dirk has gotten farther than Nash in the playoffs, true but you mean Dalls has gotten further than Phoenix? Given they do have influence over how their team does, but it is clearly not only up to just them. For example, take a look at the Lakers. They have Kobe Bryant as a superstar and arguably Odom is in the all-star category. However, with those two aside, the rest of the Lakers constitute bench warmers/substitutes/ "role players" on practically any other NBA team. Is it fare to compare Kobe Bryant by seeing how the Lakers would match up to someone like the Mavericks? Absolutely not! First off Dallas has a deep and better bench than the lakers as well as better starters in every position other than shooting guard and arguable small forward (odom). While in the end Championships are what people remember, it does not have very much weight in terms of reflecting on how great a player was. Take for example the Bill Russell/Wilt Chamberland match-up. Bill Russell, and the celtics won 11 championships, while Wilt won two championships. Does this make Bill Russell a better player than Wilt? No, it just means he had a better team. Wilt still has records that noone has even come close to touching such as the 100 point game, 55 rebound game, and an incredible season average of 50 ppg
With regards to your statement regarding people not giving credit where credit is due is because of jealousy. I'm a real NBA fan and I understand exactly where you're coming from. Kobe is a great player, and I hate it when people say that he is a bad player, just by his personality or what he's done off the court. There are a lot of players I don't like in the NBA, but that shouldn't take away what they've done on the court. Each type of fan understands or sees the game from a different point of view, from stats or from your hearth and soul, those who insult Kobe, Shaq or whoever are Team fans, and they will never understand and whatch how good other players are.
Personally I am a hardcore Spurs fan, but when I dont follow my team, i try to view basketball objetively and find the pros and cons of each and every team and player.
